We’ve had a lot of people submit to Allasso who were confused about the cover letter. To clear things up, here is a simple guide to what generally consists of a cover letter:
1. The letter should generally appear in the body of the e-mail, though it can be sent as an attachment.
2. The letter has two purposes — one, to inform the editor for which category you are submitting, and two, to give a brief bio about yourself.
3. Each letter should be to the point.
Cover letters are more of a formality than anything else. We don’t judge the pieces based on the letter, so feel free to change the structure. However, if you have difficulty knowing what to put, you can follow the above guide; that’s the basic information we’d like.
